RAISE Lab director Masud Rahman has been recognized with a Most Influential Paper Award and a Most Influential Paper Award nomination at two leading software engineering venues.

At the 2025 IEEE International Working Conference on Source Code Analysis and Manipulation (SCAM 2025), Rahman and co-authors received the Most Influential Paper Award for their SCAM 2015 paper Recommending Insightful Comments for Source Code using Crowdsourced Knowledge.” The work introduced a technique that leverages developer discussions on platforms like Stack Overflow to recommend high-quality, informative comments for source code, influencing subsequent research on combining crowd knowledge with code analysis.

Rahman’s work has also been recognized by the IEEE International Conference on Software Analysis, Evolution, and Reengineering (SANER). His SANER 2016 paper “RACK: Automatic API Recommendation using Crowdsourced Knowledge,” co-authored with Chanchal K. Roy and David Lo, has been nominated for the Most Influential Paper Award at SANER 2026. RACK demonstrated how to use crowdsourced Q&A data to recommend relevant APIs directly to developers, helping bridge natural-language queries and code libraries.

These distinctions highlight the long-term impact of RAISE Lab research on how developers search for information, reuse APIs, and integrate crowd knowledge into software engineering practice.
