Dr. Suresh Neethirajan holds a joint appointment across Dalhousie’s Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Computer Science, and in 2026 received research excellence recognition from both faculties. The Faculty of Agriculture’s Experienced Career Research Excellence Award was presented during the Faculty’s Spring Update and Strawberry Social on June 23, 2026. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to research at Dalhousie’s Faculty of Agriculture. Since joining the Faculty in 2023, Dr. Neethirajan and the MooAnalytica group have advanced work at the intersection of AI, digital twins, cyber-physical systems, engineering, computing, animal science, and sustainable agriculture. Highlights include the MooLogue mobile application for bovine bioacoustics, the DairyAir Canada app providing satellite-driven methane intelligence across more than 1,300 farms, peer-reviewed publications, commercial farm partnerships, and graduate student training. The Faculty of Agriculture award was nominated by Miriam Gordon and supported by Bruce Rathgeber and Mark Rose, with Dean Heather Bruce presenting.

Dr. Neethirajan also received the Faculty of Computer Science Research Excellence Award (Established Researcher, 2026), recognizing the computing dimension of the same research program, including multimodal sensing, edge-cloud AI architectures, and decision intelligence for real-world agricultural environments. This dual recognition reflects MooAnalytica’s growing role in translating AI research into practical tools for animal welfare, sustainability, and digital livestock farming.
