Following a competitive national peer-review process, Dr. Suresh Neethirajan’s project Digital Livestock AI Ecosystem: Multimodal Dairy and Poultry Analytics for Animal Welfare and Environmental Performance (Application ID 5697) was awarded 558 core-years on the Narval compute system and 10.0 RGU-years on the Narval GPU system for the period April 7, 2026 to April 1, 2027. The Digital Research Alliance of Canada estimates the value of these national computing resources at approximately CAD $184,483. The allocation enables the MooAnalytica Research Group at Dalhousie University to train and deploy large-scale multimodal artificial intelligence models that integrate video, thermal imaging, bioacoustics, and environmental sensing for dairy and poultry systems. These resources support research in digital twins, animal welfare analytics, precision livestock farming, greenhouse gas monitoring, behavioural intelligence, and climate-smart agricultural decision support, while substantially accelerating model development and validation beyond what is possible using conventional university computing resources.
