About

My research is interdisciplinary at the intersection of AI for healthcare and digital health, investigating and applying both data-driven and knowledge-driven AI methods to develop pragmatic digital health solutions for a range of medical/health areas. I am the scientific lead of the NICHE (kNowledge Intensive Computing for Healthcare Ecosystems) research group that conducts research in (a) health data analytics using AI methods to derive data-driven health intelligence, (b) health knowledge management using knowledge graphs and semantics-driven knowledge representation and reasoning to computerize clinical practice guidelines/workflows, literature based knowledge discovery and patient empowerment content curation, (c) from a digital transformation standpoint implementing research-based solutions as digital health applications for clinical decision support, digital therapeutics, virtual care, personalized lifetime health, digital twins and health system optimization. I am Canadian representative at IMIA (International Medical Informatics Association).
